Most Dramatic Growth in life is Proceeded by an Equally Dramatic Challenge

I am a registered therapy to counselor who specializes in working with men. Men have unique problems and challenges that don’t lend themselves to traditional therapeutic processes. I work differently in the fact that I work with men from a problem-solving standpoint. A lot of men feel very attracted to looking at the issues they’re struggling with as problems to be solved. As we start working together we start to understand where the problem comes from and how it’s affecting that individual’s life. And then we make changes. I’ve always had a very strong passion to work with men. As a man I know firsthand what it is like to come from a culture that expects you to be strong, stoic, unemotional, and bulletproof. This is an ideal that no one could live up to, yet as men we are expected to. Men tend to hold themselves accountable for the well-being of not only themselves but of their entire family. And they expect to do it without asking for any help. As a person who has walked this path I can say that asking for help while it feels like a weakness is in fact one of the strongest things a person can do. It is courageous to admit that you need help and even more courageous to accept it. I tend to work a little bit differently than most counselors. I am a little bit more direct and a little bit more challenging to my clients than most others. The people that I work with seem to appreciate this directness and I have seen great results from coming from that place. So if you’re ready to get some real work done, ready to dig deep and figure out those emotional issues that are causing you challenges, I’m ready to work with you.

While I work with a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, relationship difficulties, and low self-esteem, I am particularly passionate about working with adults who are navigating the impacts of childhood trauma. I help clients move through difficult emotions and improve their emotion regulation skills, gain a deeper understanding of the patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and develop effective coping strategies to navigate challenges. I use an integrative and trauma-informed approach to counselling, blending various evidence based therapies while emphasizing autonomy, trust, and feelings of safety.
